Damage Policy

Equipment, Damage, and Insurance Disclaimer

Equipment Policy

For the purpose of this Equipment Policy, we will label all equipment, vacuums, chemicals, organic supplies, tools, protective gear, sprays, disposable items, and anything else that can be considered as a cleaning supply as “Gear.”

There are several reasons why we insist on using our gear. Among them, but not limited to, we are proficient in our gear, we are trained in a classroom setting on how to use our gear, and our gear is warrantied. We understand that many customers prefer for us to use their gear for many reasons.

Using anything other than the gear we brought with us, in any way, is subject to this equipment policy.

If we use non-company-owned gear, please understand that we cannot and will not warranty that gear or any damages from using that gear. With all gear, there is a learning curve, specific directions, manufacturers’ best practices, etc., that are unique.  We cannot know how to use all the gear. As a result, we cannot offer support, warranty, or liability when using your gear or other non-company-owned gear.

This policy applies to items that seem like common sense, such as bleach, Windex™, or similar vacuums to what we use. This policy also applies to organic, natural, or identical material and products to what we use. If we did not bring it with us, we would not support any liability for your damages.

Damage or Breakage Disclaimer

Our maids exercise sensible care when cleaning your home. We do carry insurance for damage or breakage caused by our maids for accidents and handling items. However, we are not liable for damage that is caused by faulty items or “normal wear and tear” or improper installation of an item. These items include but are not limited to the following examples:

  • Carpet & Rug

Carpet snags are the result of “exposed loops” caused by normal wear and tear, moving furniture, etc. which are snagged by a vacuum’s roller brush.

  • Broken Blinds

Customers should be aware that there are some inherent risks each time your blinds are cleaned.  Blinds will become brittle from daily exposure to the sun, and strings/chords will weaken over time resulting in breaks.

  • Improperly hung pictures/decorations/mirrors/anything.

If items are securely/properly attached to the wall, they should not fall when the item is dusted/wiped.

  • Faulty door knobs, shower dials, sink faucets, handles, etc,..

These items will have a lifetime due to wear and tear. They should not come off or loosen just by being cleaned.

  • Artwork, Collectibles, Family Heirlooms, and valuables over $500.

These items are expensive or impossible to replace and so we will not take the risk of cleaning such items. During our new client set up, we ask customers if there are any items in the home that we should not clean or touch. It is the customer’s responsibility to inform us of any new items brought into the home, after our initial setup, that falls into this category. This notification must be sent in writing. You can send via email to info@elaineshousecleaning.com

  • Floors that are not sealed.

Our standard floor cleaner is safe and effective on sealed floors including marble and hardwood floors. If floors are not fully sealed they are subject to water damage.  According to the National Wood Flooring Association, hardwood floors need a maintenance coat every 3-5 years. We are not responsible for any hardwood floor damage on floors that have not had a maintenance coat outside of the recommended time frames.

If you have any other question which is not addressed on this page, please feel free to call us at any time at (804) 527-0770. We will be glad to help to you.
